As I understand it, essentialist scheme wants to bring all mystic experiences under the umbrella of monistic mystic experience. The author of this article though lends credence to devotional experience. Still he establishes the hierarchy, similar to Sankara or Huston Smith where devotional experience is on a lower level compared to monistic experience. Ruusbroec’s mystical ascent &lt;code&gt;

For us in GV, we see it the other way round. As Tripurari Swami says everybody should find their path to be the best and hence everybody will make their hierarchy according to their path.</description>
